Impact Statement Kitchener Public Library has landscaped gardens at multiple library locations that provide an inviting and relaxing atmosphere for our customers. Outdoor Gardeners share their love of gardening by maintaining these green spaces throughout the growing season.

Description Maintain the gardens (weed, prune, transplant, clean up) on a regular basis Follow established plans Request additional supplies if needed Wear closed shoes (no sandals) Understand that the position is physically demanding & know personal limitations Use time effectively to complete tasks and document progress Understand and adhere to health and safety guidelines Share relevant information or questions with staff

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Kitchener Public Library provides an orientation and a review of appropriate safety guidelines and procedures. We also provide gardening supplies. Working Conditions: Outdoors; garden in front of library; Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 4 - 6 months Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime 1 – 2 hours a week from May to October; flexible hours - volunteers sign up for their weekly shifts
