Impact Statement Volunteers provide friendship and companionship to housebound and socially isolated older adults and adults with different abilities living in Kitchener and Waterloo. Each friendship is unique and volunteers create a sense of belonging within their community

Description As a Friendly Visitor, you would arrange a time where you can visit a socially isolated individual once a week (or bi-weekly) for 1 – 3 hours. Visits are scheduled at a mutually convenient time for both volunteer and client. A four month commitment is required for this position. Ability to speak languages other than English is an asset.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: All volunteers will receive agency wide and program specific training before their first shift. The Program Coordinator is available to discuss concerns and to provide ongoing support, as needed. Community Support Connections offers regular volunteer educational workshops on various topics. All volunteers are notified of upcoming sessions.
Working Conditions: Visits take place in the client’s home in Kitchener and Waterloo. *Current need is in Kitchener Clients and their homes are pre-screened by staff. Transportation: NONE Needed

Time Commitment
Duration: 4 - 6 months Anytime 1-3 hours per week at a mutually convenient time. A four month commitment is required for this position.
