Impact Statement The goal of Family Home Respite is to offer a break to families who support individuals year round. You'll know you are making a difference in the lives of an individual and their family; simply by enjoying life the way you already do, while sharing it with someone else.

Description Being a host family is a unique volunteer role based around inclusion, belonging, and dignity. Respite is an opportunity where you would invite an individual who identifies as having a disability into your home. Respite opportunities typically range from 2 to 7 days, and are informed by the individual needs and interests of the person staying with you. Expenses will be reimbursed up to a set amount.
You'll enjoy all the fun and fulfillment of building a relationship with an individual who is well matched with you and your family.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: All training provided by Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region: First Aid/CPR-C; Inclusion Orientation; Additional skills based on individual needs. Working Conditions: In your own home for up to 7 days or less. Accessibility: Support volunteers with special needs, Support Newcomers Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Anytime Respite opportunities are flexible and coordinated with respect to your schedule. Typically ranging from 2 to 7 days including overnights.
