   About the Position

Impact Statement
By volunteering in a thrift shop you assist in the process of "Reducing, Reusing, Recycling" AND help to raise valuable resources for peace and justice programs in Canada and around the world. You may only be one person, but be one person who makes a difference by volunteering with us!

MCC's Thrift shops take gently used clothing, housewares and furniture and turn those donations into cash to support Mennonite Central Committee programs.
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, shares God's love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice.

Description
Retail Floor: volunteers are needed to stock shelves and assist customers in their shopping

-Assist customers on the sales floor and display counters
-Be familiar with the shop prices and products
-Empty out the change rooms
-Straighten merchandise on racks and shelving
-Dusting when/where needed
-Stock shelves in the shop with priced items
-Explain shop operations and how MCC uses the money raised
-Additional tasks as needed


Ability to work as part of a team with a healthy balance of patience and energy required.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: In-house training and job shadowing provided
Working Conditions: Volunteers are working in team setting, interacting with diverse customers and other volunteers. Positions may require standing, freedom of movement and some moderate lifting.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space
Transportation: Not on a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Weekday - Daytime
3 to 4 hour shifts weekly
Opened Monday - Wednesday & Saturdays 9am - 5pm
Opened Thursday - Friday 9am - 8pm
