Impact Statement SPECTRUM is Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community Space. Our vision is of an inclusive community where all 2SLGBTQ+ individuals are welcomed, celebrated, and supported as their authentic selves.
The Friendly Visiting Program is looking for volunteers to help connect and foster relationships with 2SLGBTQIA+ Seniors.

Description Volunteers for the Friendly Visiting Program will be expected to conduct in-person visits with 2SLGBTQIA+ Seniors, submit debriefs after each visit and communicate with the project coordinator.
What you bring to the team: -Lived experience as a 2SLGBTQIA+ individual -Social communication and interpersonal skills -Ability to make others feel comfortable and safe -A genuine interest in people, their stories and their interests -Active listening skills, comfortable listening to others -Emotional intelligence and validation -Ability to uphold the policies communicated in orientation training related to safety and confidentiality
Volunteers will need to provide an up-to-date vulnerable sector check (within one year). Spectrum will reimburse the cost.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteers for this program will attend an in-person orientation that will prepare them for their volunteer position. Working Conditions: In-person meetings, indoors Car will be needed for transportation Transportation: Car required

Time Commitment
Duration: 4 - 6 months Weekday - Daytime Volunteers will pick visits that work with their schedule. Visits will take place between 9am-5pm on any day of the week.
