   About the Position

Impact Statement
This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life while providing a needed service to our community.

Volunteer Mentors help children/youth build resiliency and provide support as they work through significant milestones in life. Aside from the satisfaction of have a lasting a positive impact on the life of a child/youth, mentors have fun too! Volunteers build long-lasting relationships with the child/youth they are matched with.

Volunteers Mentors support children/youth 4 to 18 yrs. They work with the child/youth to plan age-appropriate activities in the community on a regular basis. While mentoring activities are fun, they also work on goals established by the child/youth and family. They provide support that reinforces the child/youth’s culture and identity, is respectful and affirming and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the agency. Volunteers should have good listening skills, strong sense of commitment and a willingness to work collaboratively and respectfully with the child/youth, staff, and family members. We are currently prioritizing volunteers who can drive children/youth as part of the role. We are committed to recruiting a diverse volunteer team that represents the community we so proudly serve.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Volunteer orientation and pre-service training information will be provided once you are accepted to the volunteer program.
Working Conditions: You will determine the days/times and coordinate this with the child/youth and family you are matched with. There is flexibility within the position and all attempts are made to make a match with your schedule in mind.
Accessibility: Support volunteers with special needs
Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
2 to 4 hours per week for a minimum of 1 year. Activities can happen after school, during evenings, daytime during summer (possible) or on weekends.
