About the Position
Position # 21407
OrganizationSocial Development Centre Waterloo Region
Position Committee Member - Communications and Campaign
Location 23 Water Street North, Kitchener, ON, Canada
Impact Statement Every person is valuable. Every voice counts. We are turning up the volume of voices that have been muted, silenced, or ignored in places of authority and decision-making such as low-income, persons with disabilities, newcomers, racialized and marginalized. Your voice counts too in reaching out to people across cultures, income and ability to respond to the current social, political and economic challenges we face.
Description We are looking for help to prepare our virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 23rd and the end of the year campaign plan to ensure funding for the work of lived experience groups and the Civic Hub Waterloo Region program. It will be rewarding to see our Unsheltered Campaign and coalition of lived experience groups succeed in advocacy and see people from different backgrounds joining forces to ensure equity, inclusion and well-being for all the residents in the region through and after the pandemic.

Volunteering is rewarding when you are driven by a purpose. Think about what you would want out of this engagement: working on a social justice issue you care about; being exposed to ideas that you haven't considered before; develop a new set of competences; build your network of contacts and gain deeper understanding of civic engagement initiatives in the region; and learn more about the challenges advocacy and social development non-profits face.
