   About the Position

Impact Statement
Shelter Movers provides moving and storage services at no cost to women and children fleeing abuse. We are the only organization of our kind in Canada, and our volunteers are no less exceptional. Every year, in collaboration with community partners, our volunteer teams contribute over 15,000 hours to support people transitioning to lives free of violence and abuse.
Shelter Movers is expanding into the Waterloo Region and we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic volunteers.

At our core, we aim to remind survivors of their intrinsic worth and the power they are reclaiming in their decision to leave an abusive relationship. At the end of the day, our story is made up of many stories, starting with those of survivors.

Description
The Client Services & Logistics Coordinator provides coordination before a move, and on-call support on the day of a move.
Responsibilities:
-Collect move-related information from clients and agencies
-Assemble volunteer move teams
-Coordinate the date/time and other logistics of a move and ensure all clients and volunteers are available
-Provide information to volunteers while protecting client confidentiality
-Reserve move vehicles and ensure drivers have necessary information to pick up vehicles
-Being available during a move to support the move team in the event of unexpected challenges

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Shelter Movers volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete an interview process, attend an orientation for new volunteers, in addition to signing a confidentiality agreement and obtaining a police reference check. Training and orientation provided by Shelter Movers.

Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Anytime
Flexible based on availability - approximately 8-10 hours per month. Move Coordinators (MCs) are assigned one move at a time to coordinate for a client. Each move typically takes approximately 3-4 hours to coordinate in the days leading up to the move. We ask that MCs be on-call during the move and complete some post-move tasks. We ask that MCs be available for a minimum of 1 move per month, but can take on more if desired.

This is a work-from-home position, with occasional meetings (in-person and/or conference calls). A medium-to-long term commitment is strongly preferred.
