   About the Position

Impact Statement
By joining our Youth in Food Systems team, you can learn about and explore food systems while gaining skills, communicating your learnings with peers, and building capabilities for future career (agri-food and others!) and personal aspirations.

Description
Each year, a group of students (“Market Leaders”) aged 14-19 interested in gaining food systems, business, and leadership experience work collaboratively to plan and run the Youth Food Market. www.seeds.ca/schoolfoodgardens/market

Now, we are looking for more youth to join for the main Market season!

What Does the Role Involve?
- Biweekly virtual and in person meetings
- Monthly community field trips
- Independent and small group planning and strategizing - logistics, marketing, finance, or wherever your interests lie!
- Weekly Market days from July-September

Ideal for: An Individual, Student Placement
Age: 14+

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Market Leaders will work alongside peers, staff, and community mentors through all stages of the project. They will receive resource, training, and ample opportunity for collaboration.
Working Conditions: Mixture of remote and in-person learning, gatherings, and meetings; field trips and Markets are in person throughout Waterloo Region. We aim to ensure all in-person activities are accessible by bus and/or provide compensation for transportation.
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Anytime
2-5 hours/week on a flexible, self-directed schedule. Meetings and field trips are planned according to the group's schedule. Market dates and times are TBD, but will likely occur weekday evenings after 5pm. All other independent and smaller team work will be on a flexible, self-directed schedule. Community service hours operate on an honour system, with youth tracking their time and submitting hours as needed.
