Children/Youth Transportation

Impact Statement Volunteer Drivers provide transportation services for a variety of family needs. This could include driving children to/from school, going to a program or access visit with family or simply helping a child get to an appointment or activity.

Description Do you have some extra time in your week, a reliable vehicle, and looking to make a difference in your community? Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region is currently taking applications for VOLUNTEER DRIVERS to assist our youngest community members and their families. You will provide transportation as a key component to creating a network of support for families and children. Help others and make new connections, while having your mileage reimbursed!
You must have - a G license with a good driving record - a vehicle in safe working condition - 1 million dollars in liability insurance on your vehicle.
We will work with your availability to volunteer. Child car seat training and car seats are provided. Onboarding and Orientation is required for all positions. We require volunteers to undergo a Police Records Check, Child Welfare Check and a Reference Check due to the nature of the positions in a vulnerable sector.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteer training & orientation is provided once you are approved to volunteer. Driver orientation, and if required child car seat/booster training is also required to become a Volunteer Driver. Working Conditions: Transportation: Car required

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening 9 months to a one-year commitment is required due to the length of the orientation/onboarding and training. Volunteers help out once a week or more depending on availability. Current openings for Drivers are: • School Day Drives 7:30-9:30 am or 2:30 – 4:30 pm (Daily/Weekly) • Mornings 9:00 – 12:00 pm • Evenings 4:00 – 8:00 pm • Weekends (Sat/Sun) You let us know when you are available during the openings listed above – and we will schedule your rides during those times.
