   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Grand Valley Trail was built and maintained through a large network of volunteer maintenance workers who ensure a strong and safe trail system. A volunteer Board of Directors administers this not-for-profit organization and therefore we would not exist if not for our enthusiastic volunteers. As a member of our team, you will help promote hiking, hiking related activities and events and also encourage GVTA membership.

Description
The Community Coordinators will form a team of enthusiastic and active group of volunteers that will help us build a community of hikers. You will have knowledge of trails and hiking-related events in your area. For example, you will look for small, local businesses that can promote hiking / hiking activities or events where GVT can participate in promoting our association. We are looking for 2 Community Coordinators for each of our trail sections:
Towpath (Haldimand County)
Carolinian Crest (Brant County)
Black Walnut (Waterloo County) and
Belwood (Wellington County).

Primary Responsibilities:
- You will identify opportunities to promote GVT in your area.
- With board direction and working with other volunteers, assist in the planning and execution of events related to hiking, community building and/or trails.
- Have awareness of planned activities in your area and promote them through social media.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Orientation to the organization, and the board is provided. As an avid hiker, you will need to know the GVT trails in your area. This volunteer position is aligned with the Membership & Volunteer Director, however you will work actively with other board members as required.
Working Conditions: Communication with the team is done by phone / email. By living in the trail section, you will meet fellow hikers to help grow our community of hikers. You will be asked to meet up with other volunteers in your area at in-person events.
Transportation: NONE Needed


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Anytime
The time required will depend upon the activities in your area. You will be required to attend a quarterly meeting (either in -person or virtual) with the team to plan activities, exchange best practices and get to know your fellow coordinators.
