   About the Position

Impact Statement
Family Mentors provide one-to-one support for parents/caregivers, children, and youth through engagement in various activities that wrap a circle of support around a family. Each assignment will have unique tasks and will be tailored to family's needs based on conversations with the family, worker and volunteer.

Description
Family Mentors will support the safety and well-being of children and youth by providing support, friendship, and encouragement to the parents or guardians. They will role model positive parenting to enhance the parent/caregiver’s parenting skills and will help reduce isolation by providing support to the family in everyday life activities.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Volunteer orientation and online/in-person training will be provided once you are accepted to volunteer.
Working Conditions: Timing/Visit Schedule will be based on the availability of the volunteer and the Family/Caregiver. Dates and times can be flexible but there should be regular connection between volunteer, family and agency worker. There is flexibility within the position and all attempts are made to make a match with your schedule in mind.
Accessibility: Support volunteers with special needs
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Anytime
2 to 4 hours per week for a minimum of 8 months to 1 year. Visits/volunteering can occur during the day, evenings, or on weekends based on the availability of volunteer and family.
