Impact Statement The Grand Valley Trail was built and maintained through a large network of volunteer maintenance workers who ensure a strong and safe trail system. A volunteer Board of Directors administers this not-for-profit organization and therefore we would not exist if not for our enthusiastic volunteers. As a board member, you are responsible for managing the volunteer groups and the membership for this association.

Description The Director, Volunteer and Membership acts as a liaison between the volunteers / members and the Board. You will work with the volunteer Membership Coordinator to manage the volunteer and membership database & renewal process.
- Responsible for recruiting teams of volunteers who handle many of the GVTA activities. - Plan, lead, and implement volunteer and membership recruitment recognition, retention, and expansion activities in the association - Create, update, and maintain volunteer job descriptions, as well as volunteer and membership documents and forms; - Recruit, interview, and select volunteers; - Actively promote GVTA to potential members using a variety of techniques in cooperation with GVTA Team; - Act as a liaison between volunteers and the Board of Directors; - Work with membership coordinator to coordinate membership renewal and organize membership retention efforts.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Orientation to the GVTA organization and board is provided to all directors. Training to use the database and tools will be provided. Working Conditions: With the exception of board meetings 10 times a year (currently handled remotely), most volunteer work is done independently from your home or office at your convenience between meetings. The Director must have access to a phone, a computer and the internet. As needed, the Directors will be required to find a suitable location (i.e. coffee shop) to meet with volunteers. Most work consists of coaching and managing volunteers, and independent office work, including writing job descriptions, responding to email, and occasionally speaking with people on the phone.

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Anytime The Director is expected to attend monthly Board or Planning meetings and respond to inquiries from volunteers regularly (estimating about 2-4 hours week).
